Dr. Calderón is a native of Mexico City. He is dually boarded in psychiatry and addiction medicine, is a certified practitioner of Mind-Body medicine. He is particularly interested in integrating mind-body medicine and participatory models of care in clinical, administrative, corporate and educational settings. He has directed his efforts towards the study and treatment of trauma, addictions, and health promotion models, including the rebuilding of healthcare services in New Orleans post-hurricane Katrina. He has trained with James Gordon of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, Herbert Benson and Jon Kabat-Zinn in mind-body approaches including MBSR, and is a Vipassana practitioner for over ten years.
Dr. Calderón is faculty with the Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington D.C., the leading organization teaching, studying and promoting mind-body approaches in health care. He is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Louisiana State University and Associate Medical Director of the Co-Occurring Disorders Program at the Medical Center of Louisiana, New Orleans at DePaul Hospital.
In his private practice, Dr. Calderon uses mindfulness and other integrative mind-body approaches in the treatment of addictions and other mental conditions, and offers mind-body approaches for individual and corporate wellness, and training of healthcare professionals both in the US and abroad through his Mindful Living Program©.
