Antoinette “Toni” Bankston, L.C.S.W., B.A.C.S., MBCLA Faculty

Toni is the Clinical Director of Neighbors Keepers, a pilot program of integrative care established in an inner city community of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, targeting children and families displaced by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Gustav. She has over 21 years experience as a child, adolescent and family psychotherapist, who now integrates mind-body skills, art and play therapy, movement and drama in her work with children and adults exposed to violence, trauma and disaster. She also has skills in curriculum and program development and recently worked with the Children’s Health Fund and LSU Health Sciences in co-authoring and implementing a mobile model of mental health care clinic as part of a Medical Home for children in schools and FEMA villages in the aftermath of the Katrina Disaster. She is interested in training other health care providers in how to enhance their practice by integrating mind-body skills into their repertoire, as well as how to use mind-body skills to maintain optimal mental and physical self care even when working with the most challenging populations.
