Melinda “Mindy” Milam, L.C.S.W., MBCLA Faculty

Mindy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Mind-Body Medicine Practitioner with over 23 years experience as a psychotherapist. In her private practice, Mindy combines traditional psychotherapy with mind-body techniques while working with individuals, couples and families. She facilitates mind-body skills groups, and presents workshops for the public and for businesses in mind-body skills. Mindy has extensive experience in leading groups, including groups for women whose mothers have died and for people who have survived the suicide of a loved one. Mindy is a life-long resident of New Orleans, where her home and business are located. She became passionate about using and teaching mind-body skills after she attended her first Center for Mind-Body Medicine training in January 2007. She used mind-body skills throughout the rebuilding of her home and private practice, which were both destroyed following Hurricane Katrina, and experienced first-hand the benefits of using these skills to sustain her during that difficult period.
